Con motivo de la dedicatoria de la Feria de Primavera de este año a los Estados Unidos de América, Diario de Cádiz ha querido acercar la fiesta a los visitantes estadounidenses que podrán disfrutar este año especialmente de esta cita anual. Para ello, hemos elaborado un pequeño diccionario de Feria español/inglés que podrán ser de gran utilidad a los norteamericanos que estos días visiten el recinto de Las Banderas.

Aunque la mayoría de ellos, sobre todo los procedentes de la cercana Base Naval de Rota, ya sabrán lo que es una Feria, hemos querido darles algunas claves para que puedan disfrutar de la fiesta casi como si fueran portuenses.

En un primer apartado ofrecemos una serie de definiciones de palabras estrechamente relacionadas con la Feria que cualquier visitante debe manejar con soltura para no perderse. Ya en un segundo nivel les dejamos algunas de las frases más pronunciadas por los nativos durante la Feria de Primavera, de manera que cuando se sientan tan a gusto como en casa se atrevan incluso a pronunciar alguna de ellas si la ocasión así lo requiere.

From the Diario de Cádiz, in light of this year´s Spring Feria dedicated to the United States of America, we have decided to offer our town´s American visitors a greater insight into this typical festivity so they may make the most of what is a unique opportunity to celebrate our annual event. For this reason, we have drawn up a small Spanish-English Feria dictionary that we believe may be of great use to all Americans wishing to pay a visit to Las Banderas grounds.

Even though the majority of our American friends, above all those visiting from the close-by U.S. Naval Station in Rota, are already well acquainted with the Feria, we want to propose a few key pieces of advice to ensure the Festivity is enjoyed by our guests as though they were born and bred in El Puerto de Santa Maria itself.

In the first section you will find a series of definitions of words widely used in the world of the Feria, which all visitors must be aware of and be able to use comfortably in order to get the most out of the event. Secondly, we have picked out a selection of some of the phrases most used by natives throughout the Feria season. So, when you truly feel at home and the opportunity arises, why not dare to try a few out for yourself?
